Gwydyr House is a most delightful, spacious 3 bedroom mid terrace character house is in a select area of Ryde. It is a part of an imposing stone-built period property adjoining a manor house property visited by Queen Victoria, now a stunning holiday home.
A 10 minute walk, to the town's popular shops, bars and restaurants, and the Esplanade with its pretty harbour and beautiful beaches, whilst being on the outskirts, offers a large garden to enjoy and ample parking
The property stands in its own grounds in a quiet neighbourhood with a private residents' car park. It has an impressive frontage with ornamental stonework quoins around the windows and its own little front flower garden. The rear garden is a good size and is beautifully mature with a generous decked area, pergola, a stunning gazebo that is great for alfresco dining with lovely far-reaching views. The garden is on 2 levels and down the steps its a garden laid to grass for kids and pets to play and through and arch to the end of the garden offers a fountain and summer house, great to enjoy in the day or for the kids to 'camp out' at in the summer nights.
The interior of the house comprises a spacious lounge with an open fire (and a sofa bed for guests that may struggle with stairs), a shaker-style fitted kitchen, stripped wood doors and flooring, and a new shower room, high ceilings throughout. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, Master (kingsize), twin room (or superking) a double bedroom and a family bathroom
Outside, the cottage has a pretty front garden with a bench to enjoy the afternoon sun, plenty of private parking and a lovely back garden offering: A large deck with barbecue, lounge, dining and covered seating areas. Down the steps to a grass area for kids and dogs to play. Through the gated arch you will find a relaxing area that catches the last of the evening sun with pond, fountain, swing seat and a large summer house great for the kids to play in.
Buses are frequent, stop virtually outside and can take you all around the island, alternatively you can cycle all over the island, there are more cycle paths than roads!
The Local Area
Take a stroll through the golf course turn right along the stream and to the beach where at low tide you can collect shell, seaglass and drift wood and let the dog roam around free
Check the tide. Usually about 2 hours before low tide is a good time to walk to the town along the beach
The town centre and esplanade have a plethora of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. Take a stroll up or down the hill and enjoy a meal or drink along the way. (See recommendations or try your own)
If you head on along the esplanade past the bus station and hovercraft (a treat to watch) you will find the lovely golden sandy, Appley Beach. Dogs are allowed past the tower. There are a few lovely cafes and restaurants on the beachfront.
For a longer stroll, continue on to Seaview

Alternatively continue straight on from the golf course and stroll through the local village and up to the Binstead Road to the Fleming Arms for lunch or dinner. Lovely garden with kids play area. Why not try some of the local produce from their farm shop
If you want a longer stroll continue on the costal path to Quorr Abbey then on to the Fishbourne Inn where you can sit in the garden and enjoy a drink or a bite to eat.
