Getting Around

Gwydyr House is the perfect gateway to explore the island for a short break or a holiday.

Ideally situated a 15 minute walk from the hovercraft from Southsea or fastcat from Portsmouth Harbour or a 10 minute drive from the car ferry at Fishbourne. You can be at your destination within 30 minutes on foot from the mainland!

If you dont want to bring a car, it’s an easy 10 minute walk to Ryde town centre that has a plethora of shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets. If golf is your thing It’s a 2 minute walk to the local golf club.

There’s a local beach just through the golf course great for collecting shells, drift wood and sea glass and letting the dog run free, at low tide you can walk straight through to Ryde and on to the lovely golden sandy Appley beach. And there are some lovely walks around the island - and a lobby to put your boots and coats as you arrive

Buses are frequent, stop virtually outside and can take you all around the island. Nearest Bus stops  ‘St Vincents’ out of the drive and to the right for Ryde and across the road for Newport and Cowes.
